Cindy grew up the oldest of 7, on a farm in northeast Nebraska. After attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for her Bachelor’s degree in Education, she pursued a Master’s degree and eventually obtained her doctorate in audiology. She and her family made Madison County their home for 17 years. After working for 9 years, Cindy started her own audiology practice in Norfolk. Eventually, she made her way to Omaha to Children’s Hospital where she spent 15 years evaluating and treating the hearing of Nebraska’s children and advocating for their educational needs. Currently, Cindy still practices part time and provides hearing evaluation services, with dedicated appointments for veterans to help those who have served our country.
Cindy is no stranger to public service. She currently serves as the District 1 representative for the Douglas/Sarpy County Learning Community Coordinating Council, helping to ensure Omaha area schools have the resources they need to aid in closing achievement gaps. She served as the President of the Nebraska Speech Language and Hearing Association, led the legislative committee for many years, and has earned continuing education awards from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association.
Cindy also teaches Hearing Science to speech language pathology students at the University of Nebraska at Omaha as an adjunct instructor. She is an active member of her church and a leader with Omaha Together One Community (OTOC). She lives in northwest Omaha with her husband, Marshall and their dog, Bert. Her family also includes their son Sean, daughter in law Ellie, and granddaughter Ruby.
